Community Forums for Code Enforcement?

Posted by admin On October 19th
I am trying to start an open conversation with our community. Has anyone started a forum where they meet with residents on a monthly basis? And if so how did you promote it?

Thank You

The City of Parker, Florida has a get together we call 5th Tuesday. It was set up so that on the 5th Tuesday of months with 5 Tuesdays at 6:30 P.M. for Citizens to meet with the Mayor and Council Members in an informal setting.

Parker is a small city of just under 5,000 residents, so this schedule fits us.

Guest speakers are often invited, (Police, Fire, Code, Public Works, Streets, Mortgage Lenders, Real Estate Agents, etc.).

The City advertised this meeting via our Newsletter, On our Agendas as Upcoming Events, and on our City sign.

Retired now, but when I worked for Gainesville in the 80’s, we met with (primarily) contractors and developers once a month at a restaurant for lunch to discuss upcoming proposed ordinance amendments and to hear their ideas, input, complaints, suggestions, etc. We didn’t have the internet so invitations were mailed to our database.
